Does it matter what kind of bread you get?
Hey Rachel, it does not matter what kind of bread, what every bread you prefer… white wheat.. it will still be Yummy! Happy Crocking!
I didn’t have any ground ginger on hand, but I did have some crystallized ginger. I cut this into small slivers and added it to the apple portion. It added an interesting texture and flavor that were quite delicious.
ground ginger? recipe says ground cinnamon and ground nutmeg
Courtney, I am not seeing where it says ground ginger in this recipe. Please post back and let me know where this is listed? Thank you so much!
Hi There! I’m new to your site. I just want to share that I’m a night worker so I sleep most of the day. I’m glad I found you because crocking is a good way to get a home cooked meal done while I sleep. I tried this recipe and loved it. My mom has decided to add this to our holiday menu. Thanks for all the great recipes. Hope to try more soon.
Hi! came across this recipe and would like to try it today, but have no bread crumbs on hand, I do however have some graham cracker crumbs. Do you think it would be okay to substitute the two?
What are cooking apples? Just curious. 🙂
Carolyn some apples are better for cooking than others. Such as the Courtland, Gayla, and Granny Smith apples seem to be better for cooking. Where the red delicious are more for eating, just to mention a few. Hope this helps, and Happy Crocking!
I just found the link on Facebook to your site, like what I have seen so far, will have to check out some of these recipes,
I supplemented the bread with some Graham crackers and oatmeal. Worked great!

Rhonda, I am not sure what you are seeing, as the ingredient amounts are showing on the recipe. I’ll attach the link for you and hopefully you can pull this up! http://www.getcrocked.com/2011/08/09/826/
I have no bread crumbs and no blender. Is there anything that could be substituted? I can’t wait to try this; it looks and sounds delicious.
You might try crackers crumbled, but it may change the taste.
