Crock Pot Apple Oatmeal is one of my all-time favorite Crock Pot breakfast recipes – actually, one of my all-time favorite breakfasts, period! I usually double the recipe and reheat leftovers for dessert later in the day or for breakfast the next day.
If you want to wake up to this deliciousness in your crock pot, you can do what I do: I prep the ingredients before going to bed, then set my alarm and get up place everything in the crock pot 5-6 hours before I want to eat breakfast. Then I go back to bed and let my crock pot do all the magic. Waking up to the aroma of Crock Pot Apple Oatmeal is such a nice treat. I hope your family loves this as mine!
1. Mix together all ingredients and place in a greased crock pot. (or use a crock pot liner)
2. Cover & Crock on LOW 5-6 hours.
3. Serve by itself or top with milk, ice cream or whipped topping.
Optional: Add 1/2 cup light or dark raisins to mixture.
Happy Crocking!

Anyone try this yet?
Can I double or triple this?
Hi Dotty….Make sure that your crock pot is about 2/3 full – that will help with even cooking. You can double/half the recipes to fit your crock pot. If you choose to double the recipe, it would be best to have a 7 quart Crock Pot. I have had great luck …with Cuisinart and you can access the Cuisinart web store directly from my website http://www.getcrocked.com (right side) They have models that are all programmable with removable inserts. Good luck and Happy Crocking!
how many servings is this recipe?
Hi Kym, You will find our serving size at the top of each recipe page on getcrocked.com, on the right side, but this recipe makes 4-5 servings.
This is so good! I don’t like oatmeal, so I made it for my husband, and I LOVED this. The next time I will probably adjust the brown sugar, because it tasted like a desert it was so good. Didn’t I already say that!
If this only cooks for 5-6 hrs, then it seems that you would have to stay up till midnight to put this one, then get up at 6 to turn the crock pot off. How does this work? If I put this on at 10pm tonight, will it be okay to cook till I get up at 6:15?
thanks,
amber
Amber, Unless you have a programmable crock pot, you would need to set your timer to put it on at night. When I make it, it only takes about 4 hours for the crock pot I use, so it depends also on your crock pot. I would also double the recipe, as you will want left overs, that is if there is any?
It is my husbands favorite breakfast.. Happy Crocking!
I am putting this in my crock pot tonight. I doubled the recipe cause I have 5 to feed. Looking forward to having some yummy oatmeal in the morning. Recipes like this will be awesome when it is actually cold outside. Right now it is still getting into the high 70′s low 80′s on some days. I will report back tomorrow with the outcome.
Amber
Am I going to be able to sleep if imsmelling breakfast cooking all night long??
I have made this twice and it was really good! Both times it was even better the next day.
I doubled and used almond milk instead of regular milk. It took the entire 6 hours to cook when doubling. The whole family loved this. (also omitted nuts)
Could you use steel cut oats? Or do half rolled, half steel cut?
Hi Kylie, I know others have used the steel cut oats, but I have not! If you use them please post back and let me know how it turns out. This is my family favorite, and have never changed to te steel oats, as we have it at least two to three times a month, and my family likes it just the way it is. Thanks for the question, and Happy Crocking!
Should the apples be peeled?
yes, peel and slice the apples. Thanks for the question – I’ll update the recipe so that it’s more clear. Happy Crocking!
How would the stats look if you used Splenda in place of either the honey or the brown sugar? Or the splenda version of brown sugar? Trying to make this a little more friendly to my diet.
Hi – I have used pure Splenda or Stevia as a sub for the brown sugar and it is still yummy! I haven’t subbed anything for honey, but I guess you could do that too. Just to give you the nutritional values: (according to CalorieCount.com)
1T. Splenda baking blend = 60 calories & 12g sugar, 1T. honey = 64 calories + 17.2g sugar, 1T. brown sugar = 51 calories & 15.5g sugar (This doesn’t seem right for the Splenda Baking Blend but I have never used it. If you have it at home can you please verify? Thanks!)
Recipe looks great! I’m wondering if I could use water in place of the milk for a reduced calorie version. Ever tried it?
I haven’t used water but I’ve used Almond Milk. If you opt for water please leave a comment so people can know how it turned out. Thanks & Happy Crocking!
I used agave nectar in place of honey since its better for you and it tasted just fine.
So 1cup sliced apple should equate to 1 apple, right? Also, what type of apple has worked best. Granny Smith?
Hello Tara, Yes 1 apple usually is one cup, at least that is usually the way it works for me, and I am making this myself tonight! Granny Smith are great, and I like Gala as well. I also use 1/2 the brown sugar, as we don’t like it so sweet, but some people do! Happy Crocking!
I liked the flavor but mine came out *very* mushy! Is this normal, or would it maybe work better at a little less time in my crockpot? I cooked it for six hours (didn’t check at five because I was asleep
on low and then left it on warm for another hour or so until we were ready to eat. A very small portion on the right side burned a little, but the rest was fine. Just a weird, gushy consistency! I still thought it was good but would definitely prefer a more oatmeal-y texture if possible…thought I’d see how it normally comes out!
Hello Terressa, I make this at least twice a month, as my hubby loves it, and I found with my crock that I can’t cook it as long as the recipe calls for, so I prepare mine in a crock pot liner, and get up about 2:30 and drop it in and turn it on, and by 6:30 or 7:00 it is ready. You may find with your crock pot that it is cooking too hot and fast, and may want to shorten your time. Hope this helps and Happy Crocking!
I knew I’d never be able to get up super early to start this so I made 1 1/2 times the recipe in a 3 qt crock. Turned it on high at about 10:30 pm. After approx 45 mins, I turned it to warm and left it like that until 7 am. Turned out perfectly!
Great idea! Thanks for sharing & Happy Crocking!
I made it with water, substituted raisins instead of apples and omitted honey. Otherwise I used your recipe, THANKS for posting this, it was vey yummy, I will be making this a lot. It came out fine using water. I just made it during the day and will heat it up in the morning in the microwave, that is if I don ‘t just it it as dessert.
I read someone else’s post wondering if water would work. I’m wondering if that was ever tried. Also, is the nutrition label with the recipe the values for the entire recipe or is that per serving (4 servings?)
We’ve had comments that they have made this with water and it was very good! The nutritional facts are per serving! Happy Crocking!
I made it with water and it was delicious!
I can’t find the “Print” button on your recipes. What am I missing? Thanks.
Hi Martha! Under “Share and Enjoy” the print button is the first icon! Happy Crocking!
I made this yesterday & it is delicious. My question is: the nutritional info, is that for the whole recipe? I am counting my weight watcher points & trying to determine how much to eat. Hopefully the ni is for the whole amount!
Hello Kyle! The nutritional facts are per serving! Congratulations on doing weight watchers, it is a great program! Check out the slimmer/simmer tab for recipes that are healthy! Happy Crocking!
