I tried this last night/this morning. I used 3 cups of CranApple juice instead of 1 1/2 cups each of Cranberry juice and Apple juice. We didn’t have the candied walnuts but it was sweet enough. We really enjoyed it and had enough for another breakfast and to give some away. It seems a little thin when it’s done but it thickens as it cools for a few minutes. I’ll definately make this again.
Is there really that much fat per serving? Or is it for the whole thing? How many servings does this make? It seems a lot for about 1/4 butter for the whole batch. I’d like to try it, but I’m not sure I want to start my day off with that many calories.
Hello Shannon, thank you for the question! The total fat is correct, but is reduced to 14.6 if you omit the nuts! My family favorite is the Apple Oatmeal! You might want to give it a try! Happy Crocking!
how many servings is this? sounds delish! i’ve been looking for a xmas morning breakfdast that can cook over night, but not eggs (allergy). this sounds perfect!
Hi Paige, thank you for the question, all of the recipes have in the upper right hand corner of the website page at http://www.getcrocked.com the number of servings, and hours to crock, but I am happy to share with you that this recipe serves 6! Also the Apple Oatmeal is wonderful! Happy Crocking!
Can you use the steel cut oats instead of the regular rolled oats?
Yes Linda you can! I have not made it that way, but others say they loved it! I am just not a huge fan of Steel Cut Oats! Happy Crocking!
Yes Linda you can use Steel Cut Oats, as many have posted that they have made their oatmeal that way, I am just not a big fan of Steel Cut! Happy Crocking!
Hey
I made this over Christmas with rice as a base instead of oatmeal and it worked really well. I thought it worked great as a festive recipe, I even ended up having it for breakfast most days!!
