- 1 - 2 T. Water

Donna Z. J. likes to throw a whole chicken in her crock pot! I see so many things to do with this recipe Donna, thank you so much for sharing!
1. Donna seasons her whole chicken on all sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika (paprika is key–gives it a great taste!).
2. She doesn’t add more than a tablespoon or two of water to keep it from sticking to the bottom.
3. Cover. Cook on Low all day, and the meat will fall off the bones and be delicious.
Donna says they like to shred it and add barbecue sauce. Serve on hot dog or hamburger buns. I think this would also be good without the barbeque sause, and just shredded to put on salads!
Happy Crocking!

I always make a whole chicken in my crockpot with lots of seasonings, only I put the chicken on a steel rack, add a cup of water to the bottom (so the drippings don’t burn), then I save and freeze all the drippings for later use. When I want to make a homemade gravy or sauce requiring chicken broth, this is SO much better than opening a can. It is full of flavor like you would not believe. And it’s great to add to stir fryes. Also, if you’re going to be gone all day and don’t want it to overcook, use a timer (like for your holiday lights), so it shuts off about an hour before you come home. Then it has time to cool so you can pick it up and shred it without burning yourself!
Can you specify a better time frame? “All day” is a little vague for me….
Hello Orry, Since this is a facebook friend recipe and this is the way she posted the recipe, I would assume that she means it can cook for 8-10 hours on Low! If you have a programmable crock pot I would set it for 8 hours and check it, or have it go to warm after 8 hours! Hope this helps, and Happy Crocking!
I made this last week, it was delicious! My family really loved it… I made some rice and salad – YUM!
