Happy Crocking!
please what is half and half I notice it in your recipes . Many thanks Raewyn
Our Half and Half is half cream and half milk, (like the cream off the top of milk) if you do not have it, you can use milk! Hope this helps, Happy Crocking!
If you don’t finish what is made, can you store and re-heat over a few days?
Absolutely! I always make more than needed to eat for another day. Thanks for the question, and Happy Crocking!
Every time I make this the corner edges of my crockpot have crusty oatmeal stuck in them and it is very difficult to get out.
Suggestions?
Janie have you ever used Crock Pot Liners? You find them in your grocery store in the isle with paper plates, and bags… Happy Crocking!
Can I omit the figs and add raisins or omit dried fruit all together? ( hubby doesn’t like dried fruit in oatmeal! I do!)
Absolutely Amy, you should make it to your liking! Happy Crocking!
Any idea how many servings?
Hey Teresa! all of the recipes on my website at getcrocked.com have the serving sizes in the upper right hand corner of the page, but I am happy to share with you that it serves 6! Happy Crocking!
Thanks, I noticed that right after I clicked button. Duh! I was thinking about changing up the fruit to apples & craisins. Think the cooking time will be the same?
To clean your Crock Pot easily, mix water and a small amount of dish detergent in the Crock Pot, and turn it on until the water heats up and the detergent bubbles. Pour the water out, and it will be easy to clean! Be very careful when pouring the water out as it will be scorching.
Thinking of doing a crockpot oatmeal bar and have the fixings on the side.
Do you have to use the steel cut oats?
Can it be made with just the oats, water, and milk?
Hi Amy! I have some recipes that call of regular oats, but this recipe does call for Steel Oats. Check out my website at GetCrocked.com, and do a search on the upper right hand corner of the page for oatmeal, and several will come up. You could make the apple oatmeal as it calls for regular oats and is a staple at our hours. Hubby loves it! 🙂
This recipe sounds so delicious, but with many, many recipes here on getcrocked, it does not have the size of crockpot to use to make the dish. So what size crockpot do you use? To measure out the ingredients, and add them together to find that they don’t fill the crockpot properly seems rather wasteful. I only have one size crockpot, a 7 qt, and there was a way to search for recipes that only use that size. It’s been frustrating to find good dishes and not be able to cook them, because I don’t know if my crockpot with… Read more »
Hello Barbara, I don’t always have the slow cooker size, because if I put the size followers may think they can’t make it because they don’t have the correct size. The key is to have your slow cooker 1/2 to 2/3 full to crock properly. To make this recipe you would need to double the ingredients, and the crocking time and temp would stay the same. I also use a programmable slow cooker when crocking overnight and have it turn to warm at least 1 hour before it is to be done so as not to over cook the steel… Read more »
