Cooking Time:
1 - 2 hoursServings:
18-20
Ingredients
1 lb. Velveeta cheese, cubed1 lb. Mexican-style Velveeta, cubed
1 8 oz. block cream cheese, cubed
1/2 sweet onion, diced, and sauteed with--
1 lb. ground beef or turkey, browned and drained
1 10 oz. can original Rotel, drained
Franks Red Hot, several dashes, to taste
- To prepare: Set slow cooker to “Low” setting.
- Cut Velveeta cheeses into 1-inch cubes, add to slow cooker (If need to make dip quickly, then slowly melt Velveeta in microwave in 1-min increments, stirring each time).
- Add browned beef/turkey and onion.
- Next, add Rotel.
- After stirring all components, add cream cheese.
- After cream cheese is melted, add Frank’s Red Hot, as little or as much as you like.
- Serve with tortilla chips or Fritoes. Slow cooker should be set to “Warm” after an hour or so, so as not to burn dip. Your guests will devour this one I promise!!!
Happy Crocking!
I make this dip often, and would like to add that 1 can of Hormel chili with NO BEANS is a great addition. Also, I have trouble locating the Mexican velveeta in small block form, so sometimes I JUST use a whole block of the Mexi instead of regular. This is a dip that EVRYONE loves, and is requested all the time when we go to a neighborhood football party.
I made this dip last weekend for my friends while watching the game and it was amazing. Definitely will be making this again and again!!!
Do you use the 2# block of regular velvetta or the 1# block? What size is the mexi velvetta 1# or 1/2 #?
Thanks Bonnie for the question, I will modify the recipe, as both are the 1 lb. size! Thank you and Happy Crocking!
What is Rotel?? What size is the can?? Not sure if this is available in Canada.
Hi Brenda – Here is a link to Rotel. You can use the 10 oz. size can. Thanks & Happy Crocking! http://amzn.to/18Nj49V
We don’t have rotel in canada
Any suggestions
Tracey, Rotel is basically spicy peppers, onions and tomatoes. You can chop them up and let them sit in their own juices for a while. If you like a spicier dish, you can use spicier peppers. If you like milder, then of course use a milder pepper. Hope this helps you! 🙂
I don’t have access to the mexi velveeta. Any suggestions?
Hi Summer, you may want to use a second pound of velveeta, and add peppers or salsa to give it the kick you will need. If you do this please post back and let us know how you made it and the end results. Thank you for the question. Others may have the same issue, and you posting back may help others. Thank YOU!
