Slow Cooker Applesauce

I first made applesauce at home when my daughter was a baby.  (The baby food version of this is simply apples and water.)  I quickly realized how much better the homemade applesauce was than anything I had ever tasted from the grocery store.  So, I made this “grown up” version of applesauce for my husband and me – and now my daughter (who is no longer a baby) enjoys this version too.  (NOTE: You can add brown sugar if needed for sweetness yet I find that if my apples are ripe enough, no sugar is needed!)

  1. Mix all ingredients in a 3 1/2 quart slow cooker.
  2. Cover and Cook on High for 2 hours or until apples are tender.
  3. Place apple mixture in a blender or food processor and puree until it reaches your desired texture.

Optional: You can double or even triple this recipe, just adjust the slow cooker size so it’s no more than 1/2 – 2/3 full when cooking.
