Yes, you can make Crab Legs in your Slow Cooker! It’s actually very simple and once you make them you probably won’t ever order crab legs at a restaurant again. I buy crab legs when they are on sale at my local grocer and it’s always a nice surprise for the family. (I don’t think they know how easy they really are to make!)
- Rinse crab legs under running water.
- Place the crab legs in your slow cooker (oval works best here) and fill with water until the crab legs are covered.
- Melt 1/2 stick of butter in a small bowl and mix in garlic and dill.
- Pour the butter mixture over the crab legs in the slow cooker.
- Cover & Crock on HIGH for 4 hours. (If using frozen crab legs, crock an additional 30 minutes.)
- Serve hot with melted butter and lemon wedges.

Add bees for extra flavor. 😉
Will this work with a whole crab?
Do you have to melt the butter before you add it to the cooker?
Yes Darcey you should melt the butter so the seasonings can blend in the butter before pouring over the crab legs. 🙂
I thinking of trying this, but I only want to make 1 or 1 1/2 pounds to see how it tuns out. Would the cooking time be the same or do I cut time in half?
Lisa the key is to make sure the crab legs are covered with the water, and you may want to reduce the ingredients in half. But the crocking time should remain the same unless you want to shorten the time just a little. Enjoy and Happy Crocking!
Is this recipe for raw or precooked crab legs from store?
How will you know when your crab legs are ready after 4 hours
