Ingredients
4 Boneless, skinless chicken breasts1 T. Melted butter
8 oz. cream cheese
1 c. chicken broth (low-sodium)
1 small (1oz) package Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp. paprika +extra to sprinkle over chicken before crocking
1 tsp. Mrs. Dash seasoning
5 fresh mushrooms (whole)
It’s no wonder that I love this Slow Cooker Ranch Chicken – I love chicken and I love ranch seasoning so I paired the two together in this recipe. This chicken is very flavorful and you can even skip the sauce if you would like to keep it lighter – the chicken will still be moist!
- Place chicken breasts in the slow cooker.
- Pour 1/2 c. of chicken broth over chicken.
- Sprinkle 1 package of Hidden Valley Ranch salad dressing mix over the chicken.
- Drizzle 1 T. melted butter and minced garlic over the chicken and sprinkle paprika over top.
- Cover. Cook on Low for 4 hours.
- Slice mushrooms.
- After 4 hours, heat mushrooms, cream cheese, remaining 1/2 c. chicken broth, 1 tsp. of paprika and 1 tsp. of Mrs. Dash in a small bowl in the microwave for 2 minutes or until melted. (stir every 30 seconds and add a little more broth or water if too thick)
- To serve, place chicken on plate and pour sauce on top. (Optional: serve over rice or noodles.)
When do you add the garlic?
Thanks Patty, I have adjusted the recipe so you know when to add the garlic! Guess I just got typing too fast and forgot to put it in! Happy Crocking!
Hello! I’m very new to crock pot world, so I’m sorry if this is a dumb question. Haha. Do you cook the chicken first or do you just throw it in frozen or straight out of the fridge uncooked? Thank you thank you!!
Bianca you cook the chicken raw, or frozen! Some recipes call for frozen chicken, others call for raw chicken! Sometimes a recipe may ask you to brown the meat, but you don’t usually cook the meat in advance… good question, and thanks for asking! Happy Crocking!
You use raw chicken, directly from the refrigerator. The crockpot will cook it for you. I’m assuming the crock pot is to be on “high” (heat) in order to cook the meat in 4 hours. Always check the temperature of the meat, before serving!! Past experience. I’ve been in a rush for supper and was cutting it close, using a crock pot before… And have had to do a quick throw together because my crockpot meal wasn’t done on time… So never ever ever give yourself “just” the time the recipe says it will be done in, it could take… Read more »
Thanks Becca for your comments, and I agree with most, but I would hesitate to tell my readers that they need to double the crocking time, as the key to any slow cooker meal is to have it 1/2 to 2/3 full to crock properly. Also the only difference between high and low heat is the time it take to get it to the temperature to cook your meal safely. High gets it there faster, and Low takes a little longer, but they both cook your meal safely. Definitely each and every slow cooker crocks differently, you just need to… Read more »
