i am making this dinner for my two 3-year-old girls, who don’t like mushrooms. i’m going to add carrots and broccoli instead (which they love). any advice about adapting the recipe? or should i follow the same instructions with different vegetables? thanks for your help!
Hi Jen – thanks for your comment. I would wait until the last 45-60 minutes of crocking to add the broccoli in so that it doesn’t get mushy. The carrots should be fine if you add them at the beginning though. How great that your girls love veggies – I hope they love the recipe too. Please let me know how it turns out – Happy Crocking!
thank you!! i will! i made your 3-bean chili for christmas eve — added a few colorful peppers — and the crowd loved it. lots of people are asking for the recipe!
I have made this several times now and it is always a hit with my husband. I have also made it for some guests and they loved it, too. The only changes that I make are these: I sprinkle the chicken breasts with paprika to give them some brown color. I also use Healthy Request Cream of Chicken Soup because it has lower sodium. I use Marsala cooking wine. It gives it a rich taste. Thank you for sharing a great recipe.
