Slow Cooker Cranberry Sweet and Spicy Meatballs

    2 1/2 hours to 3 1/2 hours

Ingredients

1 1/2 - 2 lb. frozen meatballs, turkey or beef
15 oz. cranberry sauce
2/3 c. ketchup
1/2 c. beef broth
3 T. brown sugar
1/2 small onion, minced
1 tsp. red pepper flakes
2 tsp. cider vinegar



Slow Cooker Cranberry Sweet and Spicy Meatballs are always a crowd pleaser! This easy recipe is very flavorful and will have guests coming back for more. Select any frozen meatball from your grocer for this recipe. (Costco has large bags that you can keep in your freezer all the time – just take out a pound or two when you need it.)

  1. Place frozen meatballs in a slow cooker.
  2. Combine sauce ingredients; can add additional pepper flakes if you like it with a kick.
  3. Pour the sauce over the meatballs and stir to coat well.
  4. Cover. Cook on High for 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours.

I am on Coumadin (blood thinner) and cranberry is prohibited. Can you think of a good substitute because these sound really good!?

I would think Currant jelly would work! I know the chili sauce/grape jelly combo is pretty good on the lil smokies.

No beef broth on hand so I used 1/4 cup water and 1/4 cup bourbon and added a little beef bouillon. These were excellent!
