Slow Cooker “Foolproof” Rice is great to go with so many meals!
- Place all ingredients together in slow cooker.
- Cover. Cook on Low for 6 to 8 hours.
NOTE: This Foolproof Rice recipe really does work, even with the small amount of water required. Covering the slow cooker and setting it on Low effectively turns your slow cooker into a rice steamer. The rice will have the consistency of steamed rice and will not be “sticky rice”, that you would get from cooking it in a pot on the stove top. Time is important, as every slow cooker crocks differently, so you will need to watch this the first time you make it! Tricky but when you know how your crock will make your rice, it will be easier the next time.
Happy Crocking!

Can the “foolproof” rice be doubled, tripled, quadroupled? Also, would the rice to water ratio change as well as the duration?
Thanks in advance,
Vickie
Hi Vickie! I don’t know why you couldn’t double, triple and etc… The recipe would just be doubled, tripled and etc. as posted. The only change would be the size of the crock pot! As a rule of them a crock pot should be 1/2 to 3/4 full to crock properly, and the time should stay about the same, but you should check it! Happy Crocking!
can you make this recipe with brown rice?
Yes Ann you can! Make the rice of your choice! Happy Crocking!
can you add a can of veg. beef soup to it and make a complete meal all at once?
Hi Bob… I love it when people make a recipe their own! Would love to hear how it turns out! Enjoy and Happy Crocking!
1 cup of rice will make 10 servings? Am I reading this wrong? Just checking.
Use your slow cooker for rice. 1 cup of uncooked rice yields 3 – 4 cups cooked rice. It takes 20 minutes +/- for regular white rice. Brown takes double the amount of time.
I like to make a pot of rice, pour 1 cup portions into sandwich size Ziploc bags & freeze. It reheats nicely & is ready to thaw & go into a soup, casserole or make fried rice.
I like the slow cooker method more than using my rice cooker. Just don’t take the lid off frequently as the rice needs the steam to cook. properly.
