Do you cut up the artichoke hearts? And please be more specific when you say vegetable dip mix. Are you talking hidden valley ranch mix? I am just not sure what you mean by that.
She replied to another comment with the same question and said the to use the Knorr Vegetable dip mix
For the vegetable dip mix, do you mean the Knoor powdered mix?
Love this recipe and the crockpot.
Yes, what is the vegetable dip mix? Would love to do this for Turkey day!
I am an american living abroad in a land where there is no sour cream…. shameful I know. Is it possible to substitute the sour cream with greek yogurt?
Hi Amy – Yes, I think greek yogurt would be a good sub. Otherwise in a pinch I have used evaporated milk (1 cup) with 1 T. of vinegar. Just mix it and let it sit a few minutes to thicken. Happy Crocking!
Is this a powdered vegetable dip mix?
Hi Melissa – Yes, it’s a powdered mix. Like this one: http://amzn.to/1embepb
Which do you usually use – fresh or canned crab?
Hi Jamie, I have used both, it just depends on how much time I have and what the event is too… Definitely your personal preference. Enjoy!
I’m preggo with serious gall bladder issues. I’ve had to switch to a mostly fat free diet. Do you think this would taste good with fat free cream cheese and sour cream?
Debra it will most likely not be as creamy, but we have to do what is best for our body, and I would definitely give this a whirl and make it to fit your needs. Take care of yourself and that little one! 🙂
Can imitation crab be used for those that have shellfish allergies? Thanks! : )
What is a small crock pot, can you list the size
Mandy a small slow cooker would be a 1 quart, 1 1/2 quart slow cooker. Enjoy!
What is a small crock pot
Thanks Nancy for the question… A small slow cooker is a 1 quart or 1 1/2 quart slow cooker.
How do I get the actual recipe
Nancy just click on the link and it will take you to my website at GetCrocked.com. Here you go.. http://www.getcrocked.com/2013/11/20/slow-cooker-creamy-crab-dip/
Question ~ marinated or non-marinated artichoke hearts in a jar?
Jules, I use non-marinated… But you should use what you like the best. Thank you and Happy Crocking!
DO you mean 6 of the 7oz cans of crab meat or 6oz to 7oz of crab?
Thanks Erin! I have edited the recipe to make it read easier. It is 6 oz. or 7 oz. 🙂 Thank you for letting me know! Enjoy and Happy Crocking!
I’m going to make this tomorrow! Can imitation crab be used? I know the canned crab can get a little spendy and I already have some of the imitation crab in my freezer! Thanks!
Tonie I am sure it will be fine, make this recipe your own, and be sure to post back and let us all know how it turned out! Happy Crocking!
Ok I bought Ranch veg dip….Do you think it will work ok?
Hi Patti! I haven’t made it with that before but I think it will be ok. Hopefully wherever you’re bringing it no one has had it before so they won’t be expecting a certain flavor. I would add a bit at a time until you are happy with the flavor and maybe season with salt & pepper and a little hot sauce if it’s too “ranchy.” Will you let me know how it turns out? Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Crocking!
Are you supposed to drain the juice from the artichoke hearts and the crab meat? I am making it right now…can’t WAIT to try it! Posting pics on fb as well and everybody is asking me for the recipe! Sharing Crock Pot girl!
Sorry …. Just hopped on, and saw your question, but yes you do drain them… I’m sure it was cry good, ours turned out great!
Hi- Is it possible to put this on low for 4 hours?
Marissa the only problem would be you need to stir it from time to time, as it will stick to the edge of the crock and brown. It really doesn’t take a long time to heat through… Delicious! Great Appetizer! Enjoy! 🙂
[…] Slow Cooker Creamy Crab Dip […]
Roughly how many servings does this recipe make?
Hi Jen! All of the recipes serving sizes are in the upper right hand corner of each recipe, but happy to share this recipes serves 10-12. Enjoy and Happy Crocking!
For the crab dip, can I use my only size crock, a 4 1/2 qt.??? Then transfer to a pyrex server. Also, since I have one that size, can I double the recipe without any problems???
Yes – you should be fine to double the recipe with that size of crock. You can also transfer to a serving dish – you just will want to keep an eye on it and reheat as needed. Happy Crocking!
Hello! I don’t have a small crockpot. Can I use the regular one without doubling the recipe? Thank you!!
Michelle your slow cooker needs to be 1/2 to 2/3 full to crock properly, but if you decide to use it, you will need to watch it carefully as it will burn. 🙂 Happy Crocking!
Crock Pot Girl,, you are my new “Pioneer Woman” for crock pot recipes! I made your cocktail meatballs, caramel rum dip and this crab dip for a party and all were huge hits!
AWESOME! Thanks for taking the time to post to me! Happy Crocking!
Who makes a Vegetable Dip Max and where can I find?
