Looks yummy! Do I have to defrost chicken first?
Hello Amber,
I put the frozen chicken in the crockpot and 9.5 hours later they were fully cooked.
Thanks, Matt!
Sounds delicious! And all “real” food too! Will try this one soon.
I wish I saw this yesterday before I cooked my chicken thighs in a recipe I kind of made up by combining several recipes together. I could have used up the apples in my fridge. It sounds delicious. Will try it soon.
I wonder if this would be good with pork chops?
Absolutely Mandy! Make this recipe your own, and you will find many of my recipes on my website can be make different ways! Happy Crocking! 🙂 and……… Happy Holidays!
My chicken is always so dry in the crockpot. Any suggestions?….
Kara it sounds like your slow cooker is cooking too hot! There are a few slow cookers that will cook hot even on low. You may want to invest in a slow cooker that is programmable so it will turn to warm when the food is done. There are also a few slow cookers with a meat probe to let you know when your meat is done. I have one, and just love it. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I believe it is your slow cooker. There is still time to tell Santa you would… Read more »
Yummy! Can’t wait to make this. Thank you for all the great recipies!
I have wanted to make this all week and just put it in the crockpot now. (….life with an infant..lol) Do you think it will come out poorly if I only put it in for 6 hours? Should I cook on high instead?
Sorry Jen, you may not know, but I too have a little one again, and sorry, I am just getting back with you, but I am sure it turned out great! My little one is only 11 days old, so I sure understand what you mean! 🙂
Want to try this for Sunday lunch tomorrow. Do the apples cook to pieces?
Hi Frances, it really depends on the apples sometimes. As you know apples cook differently some times. Enjoy and Happy Crocking!
I used 4 chicken breasts…is that about right? Do you know how many weight watchers points this would be?
This sounds delicious!! What type of apples do you suggest using?
Can it be made without the onions? Or would that ruin it, do you think?
Since it is only 1 T. onion, it should be fine, or add maybe 1/4 tsp. onion salt if you have it.. Hope this helps! 🙂
Yes, what type of apples would you suggest. I want to make it this weekend
Pam any cooking apple would be great, such as granny smith, gala, courtland. Enjoy and Happy Crocking!
Thanks for responding about the onion. But I’m confused…the recipe says 1 onion, sliced, not 1 T. Is it a typo? 1 onion seems like a lot, considering what you replied. (By the way, is 1 T one tablespoon?) Thanks again!
Cathy, I would be confused too… You can leave out the onion, and I looked at the honey instead of the onion, my bad. But yes 1-T. = 1 Tablespoon… If you want you can still add some onion salt or powder if you would like. I’ve never made it without the onion, and I know it would change the taste some, but I believe it would still be good. Sorry for my error earlier. 🙂
Sorry if I am missing the answer to this: how many servings is the recipe supposed to make?
Andddd I just saw the answer at the top of the page 😉 (6 to 8)
I made this over the weekend. It’s amazing!!!! I paired it with brown rice. Delicious!!!!!
This may be silly question, do you also peel apples or leave skins on? Getting ready for crockpot tomorrow. Thanks!
Ronitta it is a matter of preference, some people like the peel left on, but I usually peel my apples. Either way will work fine. Thank you for the question. 🙂
It’s in the crockpot right now. It smells awesome. Can’t wait to try it. I added some additional water – it seemed dry on top of the apples. Anyone else have this problem???
Do y’all use green or red apples?
I just made this on Sunday and I used a red apple, but I don’t believe it matters as long as it is a good cooking apple! Enjoy and Happy Crocking!
You mention to cook on Low 8-10 hours. I have an auto shift on my crock (older crock) if I use that setting how long should I cook it for. Any suggestions??
Denise, I would check it after 6 hours, although I don’t have this type of slow cooker, so if you think to check it earlier, it would not hurt. Be sure to use a meat thermometer. Happy Crocking!
