I like the helpful info you provide in your articles. I will bookmark your weblog and
check again here frequently. I am quite certain I will learn many new stuff right here!
Best of luck for the next!
Tasted great but it was a little salty. Maybe 1 1/2 tsp of seasoning salt instead of 2 tsp?
Thanks Ashley, I will make the modification to the recipe! Happy Crocking!
Is the calorie count for the whole pot of soup?
Jen it is per serving.
I like to add diced ham to potato soup.
Shonda sounds delicious… do so and ENJOY! Happy Crocking!
Will the soup thicken the longer it cooks? It has been in the crock pot on low for 4 hours and it is really watery and potatoes aren’t soft at all:( Don’t know if I’m over reacting too early or if I messed something up.
Hi Laura – its still too early for the potatoes to be soft. It will take the entire cooking time to soften up and it should thicken too. If not you can always smash some of the potatoes at the end of cooking and that will help it thicken. Good luck & Happy Crocking! – Jenn
How many servings does this recipe make? And are you sure there are 771 calories per serving? Sounds delicious but 771 is a lot!
Willow it serves 8, (serving sizes are in the upper right hand corner of each page) and I double checked the recipe and the calorie count is correct :-(. You could substitute some of the things that add so many calories, or omit the bacon, as it is the big one in this recipe. Serving sizes are in the upper right hand corner of each page Hope this helps and Happy Crocking!
Sounds delicious but it has way too many calories. Can you suggest what changes I could do to make it skinnier? Also dairy free? My fiancée just found out he’s allergic. Thanks a lot! Love your site.
Viviana it would be hard to make potato soup dairy free, but you could use veggie broth, and don’t know if he can have Almond Milk or Coconut Milk, but either would wot. All these things would lower the calorie count too. Good Luck and Happy Crocking!
I think the 2 cups of half and half is the killer. I would substitute it with whole milk, or canned evaporated milk, or lowfat plain yogurt. Sounds delicious and I can’t wait to make it.
I’ve been cooking for 8 hours on low and the potatoes are far from soft. Dinner for guests is in half an hour and I’m tempted to just order a pizza. Is there a fast fix??
(And is the reasoning for this because of my crockpot?)
It may be the potatoes Holly, sometimes I dip them out and put them in the microwave for a while. Thank goodness it doesn’t happen every time…
I love this site. Thanks Jenn.x
Are the potatoes supposed to be peeled first? Thanks!
Going to make this tomorrow. Do I peel the potatoes? FYI – Half and half doesn’t show up as an ingredient on the IPad app, it only appears in instructions so you have to come here to find out how much to add.
Kimberly it is 2 cups of half and half! As for peeling the potatoes, some like the peelings on the potato, so it is a personal preference. I do peel my potatoes. But you sure don’t have to. Happy Crocking!
yummy
Hello. This looks delicious and so easy! One question: can I use russet potatoes instead?
Thanks!
Absolutely! Make this recipe your own and ENJOY! 🙂 Happy Crocking!
