With so many ways to make Macaroni and Cheese, I found this recipe for Slow Cooker Macaroni and Cheese to be among one of the best, please post back if you agree!
- Spray the inside of a 5-Quart slow cooker with cooking spray. Turn to HIGH and melt butter in slow cooker while you cook noodles.
- Prepare macaroni according to the package directions. Drain.
- Place 1/2 of the cooked macaroni on the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Top with 1/2 of each of the cheeses.
- Add the remaining noodles and then the remaining cheeses.
- In a small bowl whisk together milk, sour cream, egg and salt & pepper. Pour the over top ingredients in the slow cooker.
- Cover. Cook on Low for 2 1/2 hours, stirring once halfway through cooking.
Happy Crocking!
Jenn, Maybe I’m reading this wrong? The way I’m reading this recipe it doesn’t account for all of the cheese. Where do the other halves of the cheddar and swiss come in. I’m guessing after the second layer of macaroni and before the the last layer of Guoda? Yes? No? And also, can you help me with…. how many cups of dry macaroni do I need to start out with to end up with 2 cups of cooked? I know….novice cooks are so annoying, but when you don’t know you have to ask the gurus. Thanks!
Thanks Sherry, I have made the correction, so appreciate you letting me know. Thanks again and Happy Crocking!
Doesn’t the pasta get mushy with all that cooking time? How much dry pasta do you start with to get 2 cups cooked? Confusing.
Sue is has not for me, but if you are concerned you should check it during the crocking time. I use two cups of the dry. Happy Crocking!
I tried making this for dinner, but it came out oily and chunky not creamy and delicious looking like the picture. Any ideas on what I need to do differently next time? Thank you
