Slow Cooker Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

  • Cooking Time:

    4-5 hours
  • Servings:

    7-8

Ingredients

1 head of cabbage
1 lb. ground pork
1 lb. ground beef
1 onion, medium minced in food processor
1 egg
2 c. rice, white, cooked
Salt and pepper to taste
1 1/2 cans of soup, cream of mushroom (10 3/4 oz. size cans)

Slow Cooker Stuffed Cabbage Rolls were shared by our Facebook Friend Amy B.F.S.. With so many request for her recipe I wanted to put it on my page for all of you to have.

  1. Mix meat, minced onion, egg, rice, salt and pepper together.
  2. Put meat mixture in the leaves of the cabbage, and roll up.
  3. Place carefully in the crock on top of each other. Fold to the bottom.
  4. Pour 1 1/2 cans of cream of mushroom soup over the cabbage leaves.
  5. Cover. Cook on Low for 4-5 hours.

NOTE: If prepping this the night before, pour the mushroom soup over the cabbage just before you start your crock.

Happy Crocking!

Do you brown the meat prior to using it in this recipe or does it cook in the crock pot?

Our family does this with tomato soup. Lots of butter. Soften the leaves of cabbage in some booking water they are easier to wrap. My dad’s favorite. Called pigs in the blanket.

We have been eating this for years, but we blanch the cabbage leaves for ease of wrapping and, like Dina, we use tomato soup. We also sneak in grated carrot and zucchini. The kids love it

What about the rice? Do you add it to the meat mixture or lay the cabbage rolls on top of rice?

What does one typically serve with cabbage rolls? I’m intrigued by the recipe, but have never had a cabbage roll before…

The cabbage isn’t listed in the ingredient list…kind of obvious but I actually forgot to add it to my grocery list since I just went through the stuff listed.

It’s and old polish recipie. And its cold pigeons. Cabbage leaves are boild for few mins to seften them up. Makes it easier to roll them up. Meat is raw and cooked rice is added to meat mixture. Hope it helps ye girls 🙂

Let me just say this. I just tasted cabbage rolls for the first time last year and fell in love. I make them on a regular basis now and I am making them today, as a matter of fact. I came here to see how long I should cook them in the crock pot. I have seen them many times and heard people talk about them. You always always par-boil your cabbage head and peel the leaves off in the pot one by one. You cannot roll them up if they are not boiled a bit. Now this doesn’t mean… Read more »
