There is nothing better in the fall than Slow Cooker Caramel Apple Cider! Wouldn’t you agree…..
- In a 5 quart slow cooker, heat apple juice and cinnamon sticks.
- Cover. Cook for about 4 hours on High.
- NOTE: Cinnamon sticks will soften and uncurl.
- Just before serving, stir in 1/2 cup of caramel sauce and serve in heat proof cups, or use the optional method if you have caramel squares on hand.
- Top with whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel.
Delicious and pretty! Even the kids will love it!
Optional: 1 – 1/2 hours before you are ready to serve add in the caramel squares string every half hour or so!
Happy Crocking!
What kind of Caramel do I use? I used caramel syrup like the kind by chocolate syrup people would use for ice cream or to make chocolate milk and it tastes good but the caramel kinda separated and never blends well into mix? Thanks
Thanks for posting Ashley, I would use the higher quality caramel sauce then the grocery store brand, as it will seperate because it is thinner, where the higher quality brands are thicker. I used Smuckers Caramel when I made it. Hope you will make it again as it is delicious.. Happy Crocking!
I used Hersey but still came apart I will try smuckers just wanted to make sure its that kind of caramel and not the kind u use for apples etc.
Thanks
The recipe is called apple “cider” but the ingredients call for apple “juice”. Do we use apple juice or apple cider?
Hello Amy, I actually use Apple Juice for this recipe… Some times when Apple Cider is used it can get too strong. But Apple Cider would work too. Happy Crocking!
Just found you, lookin good!
Is it ok to leave the crockpot on low for a while after the initial cooking on high until everyone in my family can enjoy it warm? Thanks!
Hi Hillary, if you have a warm setting on your crock pot, it is best to use warm, if not you can turn to low, but just know you crock pot continues to crock at the same temperature, as your crock pot is already at that temperature. I would be very careful as you wouldn’t want your meal to burn or dry out. This may be a long message, but wanted to let you know if you crock on Low or High, it crocks at the same temperature, the only difference is that on High you get there much faster…… Read more »
Hi! I’m all out of cinnamon sticks, but I do have ground cinnamon. Is that ok to use as well?
Kimberly I have not made it that way, but sometimes we have to use what we have on hand. If you make it this way, please post back and let us know how it turned out. Happy Crocking!
This sounds delicious! How many does it serve?
Alicia all of my recipes have the serving size in the upper right hand corner of my website at getcrocked.com. It is sometimes missed, but happy to share with you that it will make 8. Happy Crocking!
I have come across a lot of recipes for crock pot cooking but yours rock!!
I am wanting to serve this with breakfast at a church breakfast we are having, could I cook on low overnight instead of 4 hrs on high? Thanks
Debbie, If you cook on low, it most likely will not tall all night. I would advise 6-7 hours for this recipe. Hope this helps and Happy Crocking!
Can the leftovers be stored in the fridge or will the caramel separate and make it difficult to reheat?
Yes you can refrigerate, and when you warm it back up, you will need to stir it, but just as good the next day! Enjoy and Happy Crocking!
