Do you drain and rinse the beans or put them straight in?
Hi Lori – you can do either but if you are watching sodium intake I would suggest rinsing and draining the beans first. Thanks for your question & Happy Crocking!
Is the ground turkey uncooked when placed in the crock pot?
Ashley it does not have to be cooked, but I like to brown my turkey as I feel it adds flavor to the dish, but you don’t really need to brown it. Happy Crocking!
What size cans (ounces?) of tomatoes and beans did you use?
Thanks for the question April, I have corrected the recipe, as it is 14.5 oz. tomatoes, and 15 oz. black beans. Appreciate you keeping my on my toes, hate it when I slip up! 🙂 Happy Crocking!
The picture looks like it has corn in it, does it?
Thanks!!
Hi Jaclyn, sometimes I add extra veggies in a recipe, as my daughter loves vegetables. I may have added some left over corn to this recipe, although it doesn’t actually call for it. You are welcome to add to any of the recipes, please make them your own. Enjoy!
I’m trying this recipe for the first time today. I just realized that I had it on HIGH instead of Low. I have another 5 hours to go… Do I cut the time in half? How badly have I screwed up — and is it salvageable? It smells and looks amazing!
Yes, if you crock something (for instance) for 6 hours on Low, then you would crock it for about 3 hours on High.
This was great although I changed it up a little bit…didn’t add the bayleaf , instead i added 1 tbsp of white vinegar, 2 tbsp of yellow mustard and 2 tsps of cinnamon. Served with a dollop of sourcream and the finance came back for seconds! Amazing!
Awesome, thanks for posting back! Our followers will love your recipe! Happy Crocking!
How many servings does this recipe make?
Hello Renee, you can find the serving size of each recipe on the upper right hand corner of each page, but I am happy to share that it serves 6-8! 🙂
This one was a fail for me 🙁 I know it sat on warm a bit long after the 8 hours, but it tasted scorched and normally chilis and soups can sit on warm a while with no problem. It was also a bit bland. I really wanted to like this.
