sounds great. I will try this.
do you chop the tomatoes???
Yes Tina, you should chop the tomatoes. Thank you for the question, as I did edit the recipe to make it clear. Happy Crocking!
Definitely going to try this!
How many does this serve?
Hey Jan, the actual serving size is in the upper right hand corner of each page, but happy to share that this recipe serves 10-12! Happy Crocking!
Sounds delicious! Looking forward to trying it! Is sea salt required, or can table salt be substituted?
Hi Kristi… make the recipe your own, and if you don’t have Sea Salt, please use what you have on hand.. Happy Crocking!

I’m going to try this soon
Jenn, thank you for these clean eating recipies!!! I love cooking with my crock pot and I am starting the 3-1-2-1 clean eating diet next week. Thank you!
whats the difference between sea salt and table salt? also, my family aren’t huge on garlic and the last recipe i used called for way too much. can i use a little garlic powder instead? how much should i use?
Eileena, the difference is that table salt is processed more, although the nutrition facts are not much different. Texture is also different, but still sea salt is healthier. You can certainly use garlic salt, but to remind you garlic powder is even more intense than minced fresh garlic. So if you use the garlic powder you would only want to use a little bit. Otherwise you could eliminate if your family does not like it! Hope this helps!
i have questions on this recipe and every other chicken recipe i got from you… do you use frozen or thawed chicken…. does froze chicken cook at the same rate as thawed does in these recipes?
Hi Teri, some of the recipes call for frozen chicken, but unless it says frozen I use thawed most of the time. If I do use frozen, it needs to crock a bit longer. With that said it also depends on your slow cooker, as they all cook a little different. That is why it is important to know your slow cooker. Enjoy and Happy Crocking! 🙂
Hi Teri!
I am from the Netherlands, Europe. In the ingredients list there is stated eg: 1 T. red pepper flakes
1 tsp. sea salt
tsp = teaspoon?
T= tablespoon?
Thanks! Cheers Rubi
You are correct Rubi! Enjoy and Happy Crocking! Jenn
When you say Italian seasoning? What seasoning is that? Or is it the same as italian dressing?
Janessa Italian seasoning is actually a seasoning, not the dressing mix. You can find it with all the spices in your grocery store! 🙂
Just wondering.. what makes the fat grams so high in this recipe? Sounds amazing, but I don’t see anything that would push the fat grams over 14 grams..
must be the olive oil.. silly me
This is delicious!
I wanted to try to make it in a shorter time frame- is it possible to cook it on high? For how long do you recommend?
If crocking on High I would check it at about 3 – 3 1/2 hours, and if you feel it needs more time, you can always crock a little longer. Happy Crocking! 🙂
It says to blend the ingredients, do you mean to actually blend them using a blender or food processor? Or do you mean just to mix them by hand?
Christopher, I changed the wording, but it is to mix for 30 seconds not with a blender or food processor.. Enjoy and Happy Crocking!
I love this recipe! We had a healthy potluck party at work & this was a hit. It was easy to make & absolutely delicious! Thank you.
Could I eliminate the oil to cut calories?
Nikki, I have not eliminated the oil, but if you do, I would replace the amount with water, as you will need the liquid. Enjoy and Happy Crocking! Please post back and let us know how it turned out.
Hi! Does the cooking time need to be adjusted if I make a smaller portion? Don’t want it to overcook since there’s less to cook! Thanks.
Hi Adriana, The cooking time should remain the same as long as your crock is 1/2 to 2/3 full. This is the key to crock properly. Enjoy and Happy Crocking!
This was so easy and everyone loved it! And lots of good left-overs. My husband is putting it on a roll tomorrow for lunch. Thank you!
Could you use canned tomatoes instead of fresh? I
You can Tara, make this recipe your own! Enjoy and Happy Crocking!
Was this a little on the spicy side? I did let it sit on warm and maybe it got spicer as it sat? Maybe I’ll try less red pepper flakes next time
Has anyone tried adding more vegis? Would like to add as many as possible. Thinking of Green or Red Peppers? But would love to hear what others have tried.
I have a 6 qt. if I double the recipe do I increase the time?
Linda as long as your slow cooker is 1/2 – 2/3 full you should crock it for the same time frame. Enjoy and Happy Crocking! 🙂
We loved this recipe. It was a bit to spicy for my family so we will definitely leave out the pepper next time. We have a ton of leftovers – can you give me some more suggestions for what to do with them?
Ginny you can take the leftovers and freeze them in the right size for serving another meal, and pull them out on one of those days you know you will not have time to cook. Hope this helps and Happy Crocking!
Worked great for me though yes, I felt it was on the spicy side
Thanks for the comment, and it is a bit spicy, but I enjoy spicy. You can always adjust to your liking! 🙂
Hi Jenn,
Could I leave out the tomato paste? I hate to buy a can and not use all of it.
Please make this recipe your own Christina! It may change the taste a bit, but just add a little ketsup in it’s place… 🙂
I just put this on. after I mixed it all up I realized I added a can of tomato paste rather than just the 2 tbs…will it ruin it?
Claire it will not turn out of course the way intended, but what do you do at this point? Please let us know how it turns out…
Just wanted to let you know the recipe came out great. The whole family loved it!
how do I mark this (and other) recipe to show up on my favorites list? Especially on my phone app 🙂
So good and ready to shred 2 hours earlier which was perfect. Served over penned pasta and we all loved it. Thanks!
I meant penne
approx. how many boneless skinless chicken breasts do i need for the slow cooker clean eating Italian chicken?
Since it calls for 4 pounds it really depends on the size of your chicken breasts. I would use what is close to the 4 pounds of chicken. Thanks for the question, and Happy Crocking!
Making this for the 2nd time tomorrow, it was a HUGE hit first go round. I served it on flat-bread with a little sprinkle of cheese….some dipped in ranch, some left as is. Smells great while cooking and so easy. Thanks a bunch!
Oh my gosh I only used 1/2 teaspoon of the red pepper flakes instead of the 1 tablespoon and it’s got a kick to it which is fine for me but my kids couldn’t tolerate it. Next time im going to have to omit that entirely. Otherwise the flavor is great.
Can you cook the pasta in the crock during the extra 30 to 1 hour time, or is it better to cook separate and then add?
I have found it best for your desired tenderness to cook it separately, but please make this recipe your own, and let us know how it turns out! Happy Crocking!
