I made the Slow Cooker EASY Orange Chicken
tonight for dinner was tasty but was very dry what can I do to keep it moist
Carol did you add the chicken broth or water when crocking the chicken? If so, it sounds like your slow cooker crocks hot, and next time you may want to decrease the time the chicken is in the slow cooker. You can also test it with a meat thermometer to make sure it is done, especially if you are decreasing the time. So Sorry it was dry, as this is so good!
I use boneless chicken thighs and cook on low for 3-4 hrs and they are so moist
could I cook it on low or medium but add time to it so I can start it when I leave for work in the mornings?
Hi Bailey – I would try it that way while you are at home the first time so you can check it and really see how long it takes to cook in your specific slow cooker. The chicken may dry out of you crock it too long!
Can I have measurements please as in how much stock and marmalade to use please 🙂 thx
Cancel that. I’m using phone and didn’t see it lol oops
My boyfriend and I made this for dinner tonight – it was great! The only complaint is the chicken was a bit dry. Next time, we’ll decrease the time in the slow cooker 🙂
I am not a fan of chicken breast. Can I use the thigh instead? If so, how many do I use?
Traci I would use about 8-9 thighs.. Happy Crocking!
Thank you! Making this tonight
Love the flavors of this. However, I use the LOW setting on my crock and if I were to use the HIGH setting, it would taste like leather. I must have a crock that gets very hot. I usually only make 3 breasts.
I made this last night. I already knew my crock pot cooks pretty hot so put chicken in for 2 1/4 hours. Was perfect NOT dry at all. I also cut chicken up in bite size pieces and then added other ingredients for the last 45 minutes. Over rice and a side of broccoli it was GREAT!!
Thanks for posting Bonnie, as one key to crocking is to know your slow cooker, and it’s great for others to see your post, as they may find their slow cooker crocks too hot, or not hot enough. Appreciate your review too! Happy Crocking!
I’ve made this several times now and my family really likes it. I add carrots, onions, green bell peppers, and pineapple for more of a Chinese chicken. I’m still playing with the cook time, but it usually turns out just fine and couldn’t be easier. A new go to recipe for me.
Thanks Meredith for your suggestions… Sounds great! 🙂
I made this the other night but started late so ended up being pushed for time and cooked it in the slow cooker on high for only about an hour then threw it in a pan and seared it for about 5 minutes, after that covered it the sauce and served it on rice. It came out very moist and I am very satisfied with this new recipe.
This sounds great! Only problem is that my husband prefers hot sauce over bbq sauce. I wonder how it would taste with sriracha instead of bbq. (Probably have to use a smaller amount?).
can I use the same amount of ingredients but only do like 2 pieces of chicken or would I need to try to cut the other ingredients in half
Sara please make this recipe your own, some people like extra sauce, and if you will like it that way, you can certainly keep the rest of the ingredients the same. Enjoy!
Hi! I want to make this. Does the nutritional info include the rice? Thanks!
It does not Megan, only the ingredients in the Orange Chicken. Thank you for the question, and Happy Crocking!
