I am never disappointed with Slow Cooker Apple Crumble! Delicious! Reminds me of my youth and the family get togethers, and we would have this fabulous dessert, with homemade ice cream! YUM!
- Stir the flour, oats, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon and nuts together in a large bowl until combined.
- Add the butter, and mix with a pastry blender, fork or hands until pea sized lumps are formed.
- Transfer the sliced apples into the base of the slow cooker and add the apple juice.
- Sprinkle the flour mixture evenly over the apples.
- Cover. Cook on Low for 5 – 6 hours or until apples are tender.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream!
Happy Crocking!
Made this for dessert tonight and we all loved it. It went perfectly with vanilla ice cream. Thank you for these easy recipes that allow me more time with the kiddos. They can even help prepare!
i am semi-new to “crocking” … so, i’m wondering if i could double this recipe and still cook it for the same amount of time or if i’d need longer?! thanks so much! can’t wait to try this and many more of your recipes!
Amanda the rule of thumb is to make sure your slow cooker is 1/2 to 2/3 full to crock properly. So as long as you follow the rule of thumb you can double it, and follow the same time as stated on the recipe. Thanks for the kind words Amanda! 🙂 Happy Crocking!
Am thinking I could lower the sugar a lot using brown sugar splenda and white splenda or stevia. Not sure how to lower fat but maybe just use less. ….. Love the sound of this but the type 1 diabetes plus a gastric bypass kind of make it bad for me.
What apples are the best to use?
Just a few to suggest would be gala, Macintosh, and cortland are a few to suggest!
Sounds really delicious – but 683 calories/serving?! I calculated one serving at 19 Weight Watchers points based on the nutritional info. I only have a 26 points/day allowance!
What kind of apples would you recommend to use?
Liz, a baking apple would be like, cortland, gala, or macintosh! Hope this helps!
Sounds yummy but 1 serving is 102% of your daily saturated fat. I can’t do it. Wonder if there’s any lower fat/calorie version.
what is 4 to 5 T apple juice?
Hello Mo! 4-5 T = 4-5 Tablespoons of apple juice! Thanks for the question, and Happy Crocking!
I have a lot of apples peeled & sliced in my freezer – I am wondering would I defrost them or put them in frozen & omit the apple juice?
Hi Galeann, You can put them in frozen. You can definitely make it without the apple juice, but I would probably still add a little, as I like mine a little juicy.. Please post back and let us know how you make it… Enjoy!
What if I wanted to use a large pot on the stove (my crock pot is on the fritz) how would I convert temperature, directions (stir or not to be stirred) and length of time??? Please let me know, my aunt made me this recipe when I was 9..21yrs later i just found this and am dieing to make it!!!!
WOW Sarah, I am not sure, as I use my slow cooker for almost everything. You can certainly use the same recipe, and maybe use 350 degrees in the oven, and start checking it after 30 minutes and the every 15 minutes, as I really don’t know. Wish I could help you more.
What size slow cooker did you use? It would be really helpful if you would note this in each recipe! Thank you!
Hi Wendy, I don’t always use the slow cooker size, as not everyone has the size each of these recipe should use, and I don’t others to think they can not make it. I used my 5 quart slow cooker for this recipe. The key is for a slow cooker to be 1/2 – 2/3 full to crock properly. Hope this helps!
