Thanks for all of the great recipes. You’ve made me fall in love with my crockpot all over again. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that you have a nutrition label for each recipe. I’m wondering if you could possibly incorporate the number of servings into the nutrition labels? They are listed at the top of the web page for each recipe, but when I go to the print-friendly version it isn’t on there. I’m trying to follow a healthy eating program (WW) and it would really help to have the number of servings per recipe on the print-friendly version. Thanks so… Read more »
Thanks for the feedback, Tammy. I’ll Take that into consideration and see if that is a change my web person can make. Thank you & Happy Crocking!
Rinsing chicken is a great way to spread salmonella and other bacteria through your kitchen via splashing. Skip that step and just make sure the chicken is thoroughly cooked before eating.

Thanks for sharing the information, Leah. I’ll check it out. Happy Crocking!
Re: Leah’s comment-While you are of course right that splashing while rinsing raw chicken can very quickly spread salmonella and other bacteria around onto everything, I would NEVER skip this step-just wouldn’t feel right about it. However, it is VERY important to be vigilant in your food handling. I don’t blast the water so there’s a lot of splashing and I don’t let anything come in contact with raw meat. Don’t ever cut raw meat on a porous cutting board like wood or use the same surface to cut vegetables and other things. Don’t touch the faucet, scrub pads, etc.… Read more »
If “splashing bacteria all over your kitchen” is a concern may I suggest not rinsing your chicken with a fire hose?
Is the chicken boneless or bone-in?
Hi Lisa – I have used both boneless, skinless chicken and bone-in breasts as well. Thanks!
Forgive my ignorance, but why is this 440 calories a serving? I figure it out to be around 250…
Hi Ashley – I thought it seemed high also when I was posting the nutritional information so I double checked it. The reason why the calories are so high is because it’s a large meat serving portion. (2 lbs. of chicken for 4 servings = 1/2 lb./8 oz. per person) If you want to reduce the calories, I would suggest serving a smaller portion size. Thanks for the question & Happy Crocking!
Some times you say crock pot and then again you will say slow cooker. Is there a difference???
Hi! I was wondering if frozen chicken can be used? Fresh chicken always comes out too dry when I make it.
Hi Kelley – You can use frozen chicken but as a rule of thumb you may need to increase crocking time and I would suggest always starting your slow cooker on HIGH when using frozen chicken. One other note: if you like the chicken more moist, stick with the chicken thigh (boneless/skinless) and you will get a moister result. Thanks for the question and Happy Crocking!
How do you get the chicken browned as it appears in the picture? That never happens when I do chicken in the crock pot… Thanks!
Hi Elizabeth – If I’m serving meals to company or taking pictures I will sometimes place them under the broiler for a few minutes to brown. This is really the exception though – for appearances only. It won’t change the flavor of your food so I typically don’t do this extra step. Thanks for your question & Happy Crocking!
PS With so much lemon pepper, does adding the additional black pepper make this very spicy? I’ve got kids who don’t like things too spicy.
I need help with what to serve as side dishes. Would you make recommendations?
A nice jasmine rice would be delicious with this recipe. Or, if you want to stick with something paleo, asparagus would be nice. Happy Crocking!
Can I use just 1 lb of chicken? Didn’t know if that was too small for a crockpot to cook properly. I think. My crock pot
Is 4.5-5 qt (it’s not the largest size) Thanks!
Julie you can, but you would need to divide the entire recipe in half. Your slow cooker may be a little large for only 1 lb. of chicken. The key for the slow cooker to crock properly is for it to be 1/2 – 2/3 full. I would definitely check on it early just to make sure it does not over cook. Happy Crocking!
I don’t have any lemon juice in my pantry. If I swap it for lime juice would that be weird?
Laura I believe in this case you might just add water, or dilute the lime juice. Hope this helps! 🙂
I have this in my crock pot right now. It smells absolutely delicious. We love lemon pepper and eat chicken more often than anything else… Don’t know why we hadn’t thought of it before this recipe! Thank you so much!
Katelynn, I agree, the smell is awesome. How did it taste?
The smell IS amazing!! Cannot wait to put it over white rice tonight!!
Looks and sounds VERY GOOD!!
*(Butttttttt you need to put pin buttons close to/by the picture or articles.. so we don’t have to hunt down, look thru your pinterest page to find it.)
PLEASE and THANK~YOU!!
~~~>I’d pin every time you post if you did.. Your stuff is yummmmy!!
The pin it button is right under each picture on my website! All of my recipes are on my website at GetCrocked.com. Happy Crocking! 🙂
I cook nourshing meals every day for me and my husband and I just know we would love this recipe. I have enjoyed cooking all my life basically. I am 69 years old now and when our family’s are here I really go all out and make all their favorite dishes..
My garlic turned green, supposedly it is not that uncommon and is due to a chemical reaction that can occur when combining fresh garlic with acidic things like lemon juice.
I will scrape it off when the breasts are finished cooking but next time to be safe I’ll sautee the garlic a little first or use garlic powder.
hi there – I see (from your picture) that you show boneless skinless chicken breasts (which is what i would use)…
Even at an 8 oz. portion – how could that possibly be SEVENTEEN grams of FAT??
Am I missing something? I don’t see any other fat added to the protein here…
thanks!
I just verified the nutrition facts, and I’m not sure what happened from when I posted it before, but you are absolutely correct. I used just the chicken breasts this time to figure the facts, and the nutrition facts are different as you will see. Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. I have corrected the posting! Thank you! 🙂
Hi this is probably a dumb question, but the chicken should be thawed not frozen right? I’m asking because I have seen crock pot recipes that call for frozen chicken. Thanks.
If you use frozen chicken, usually a recipe will allow for that fact and crock a little longer. Most recipes I do thaw the chicken, but some even call for it to be frozen. It is a matter of choice. Happy Crocking! 🙂
How much water and lemon juice!? First time ever using a crock pot!!!
Mandi you will find this listed in the ingredients, but happy to share 1/4 c. water and 3 T. fresh lemon juice… Enjoy and Happy Crocking!
Don’t rinse chicken first, it actually can cause bacteria to grow. This was just on the news to let people know not to rinse the meat before cooking because it causes the bacteria to spread.
[…] found the original recipe at Get Crocked and made a few […]
I just put the recipe in my crockpot, however my crockpot is a 7quart, and it’s only about a 1/4 full….is this okay???
Jana to crock properly your slow cooker should be 1/2 to 2/3 full. Hopefully your recipe turned out ok!
So all other crockpot recipes have a lot if liquid. This seems like it barley covers chicken? Is that true? Will it create a lot of juice? I am just concerned 1/4 cup liquid is just not a lot. Just making sure
I am wondering the same thing. With the liquid barely covering is the chicken going to burn or dry out?
As you will see from the other comments it is delicious! The chicken continues to cook in it’s own juices, so the liquid used is enough! Enjoy and Happy Crocking!
I was wondering if u can sub garlic powder for the cloves.
You can penny, but remember the powder is much stronger than the cloves, so be careful not to add too much! Happy Crocking!
I looked the chicken, but found that it had no lemon flavor. I’ve thought about trying out again and actually putting in cut lemons in for the whole coming time to enhance the lemon flavor. Any other ideas on getting more lemon flavor?
