Hi CPG!! Happy New Year.
I wonder what happens if I just threw everything from recipe, including dry beans-unsoaked into the crock pot would they ever cook up? I remember as a kid (many moons ago) I tried cooking beans and 4 days later they still were hard as rocks. Did I mess up again???
Yes Nancy, they beans must be soaked. It helps them to swell so they will cook, as well as clean them. Most dried beans, peas and etc. are not cleaned before they are packaged, as they don’t want them to swell prior to packaging them.
