Slow Cooker Pork Roast with Apples

  • Cooking Time:

    6-8 Hours
  • Servings:

    4-6

Ingredients

3-5 apples
2-3 lb. pork roast
1 c. apple juice
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. brown sugar or Splenda brown sugar blend

This recipe for Slow Cooker Pork Roast with Apples was quickly added to our regular dinner rotation after a Facebook friend, Dianna S.E. shared it. I serve this over mashed potatoes and have also eaten it over rice or just by itself. It’s always yummy – the apples and juice add a great flavor to the pork roast!

  1. Cut 3-5 apples into pieces and place in the bottom of a slow cooker.
  2. Place roast on top of the apples.
  3. Mix together 1 cup of apple juice, 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 1/4 cup brown sugar or Splenda brown sugar blend.
  4. Pour mixture over roast.
  5. Cover. Cook on Low for 6-8 hours.
  6. Shred pork with two forks into apple mixture and serve over mashed potatoes or slice to your preference. Yum!

Happy Crocking!

It sounds strange, but cut up an onion into chunks and add it with the apples! It is really delish!

Apples and onions often go together. I have a chutney recipe that uses the 2 together. I think this would be a wonderful addition to this recipe. This is definitely on my “shared” list. 🙂

This is in my slow cooker right now! Been cooking for 3 hours and the sweet smell is filling the house. I am horrible at cooking pork (so much so the hubs asked me not to make it anymore!), but this recipe looked super easy and yummy! I bought pork tenderloin and used honey crisp apples, peeled. Hopefully it turns out great!!! I’m really interested in what te flavor will be like 🙂 thanks for the recipe!

I just started this roast and I am using a 7 qt oval crock pot. The amount of liquid that it says to use in this recipe just covers the bottom and 3/4 of the apples but not the roast. Is this ok or do I need to add more liquid?

My husband just cooked pork tenderloin on the grill yesterday. I’d like to try this sometime for something different.

Do you think the tenderloins would do just as well? They come 2 to a pack but the weight is about the same.

Since they are small would I adjust the time? Thanks! Pinning it!!

One thing about this site.. many times the picture doesn’t show the actual recipe. I remember one time it said a certain kind of ribs but it wasn’t that kind. Another time it was something else but similar. This time it says you shred the pork with forks but in the picture it’s just sliced. Your pictures are off a lot.

I made this today and followed the directions, the pork had no flavor and came out really dry tasting. I got center cut boneless pork roast.

The photo of this appears to have a crispy crust – you cannot get that in a crockpot – do you take this out of crockpot and crisp it in the oven

This looks great – will try it soon – I think I would slice seasoned apples into the roast as well to work that flavor into the meat better..good it is apple picking season now up in the Northeast!

I’m going to cook my roast with peeled delicious apples, celery & onion. I cannot use brown sugar because my daughter is diabetic. Can I use Sweet N Low instead with the cinnamon? Also, I’m thinking of searing the meat in a skillet before placing in slow cooker. Might add some potatoes too. Wish me luck!
