Slow Cooker Beef and Noodles was one of my favorite dinners growing up. I would literally beg my mom to make it every week! The flavor in this recipe is wonderful and the combination of beef and noodles pleases both meat and pasta lovers. I typically serve this over top of Crock Pot Mashed Potatoes and a side salad. (Just like Mom used to make!)
- Place stew meat in slow cooker and pour beef broth and water over the meat.
- Add in garlic, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Cover. Crock on High for 4 hours or on Low for 8 hours.
- Add in egg noodles during the last 30 minutes of crocking.
Happy Crocking!

Personally I would prefer substituting a green veg. instead of the 2ed starch (mashed potatoes) just me.
Linda… that is the fun of cooking an crocking to make it the way you like it! Happy Crocking!
Looks exactly what my mom used to make! Just wondering, what kind of egg noodles are those in the picture? They look like Reames egg noodles.
Hi Katie! I believe they may have been Reames Egg Noodles, but I don’t recall exactly, but they were from the frozen department in my grocery store… thanks for posting and Happy Crocking!
Just wondering if the egg noodles have to be cooked prior to putting it in the crock pot?
Hi Angela, in step 4 you add in the egg noodles uncooked during the last 30 – 45 minutes! Thanks for the question and Happy Crocking!
I am making this right now except stove top in my dutch oven; I heart Reame’s noodles!!!! I usually make chicken and noodles with them but really wanted to try a beef dish so this was perfect. It already smells amazing.
Hi, do you put the meat in frozen?
Hi I was wondering if you have to these the noodles or just put it in the crock pot frozen for 30 mins? Thanks!
Tasted great but very watery. Doesn’t look that way in the picture.
Sheila, I have made this several times, and it has not been watery, but if you want to thicken a bit add some flour or corn starch to water or beef broth and add to your noodles. Hope this helps and Happy Crocking!
Could the difference be a vented lid vs. a non-vented…i have one of each and my unvented lid always seems to cause my meal to be more watery…just a thought 🙂
I am planning on making this dish. I was wondering if I cut the recipe in half if the cooking time would be the same or I was wondering if any one knew if leftovers froze well for for this dish? I am the only one that would eat this. Thanks
Lisa, you can either freeze or cut in half, but if you cut in half make sure your crock pot is 2/3 full and crock the same time. So if cut in half, you would want to use a smaller crock pot. Happy Crocking!
I made this but cut down on the liquid: 16 oz of beef broth and no water. Came out just as pictured above.
I love Beef and Noodles!! But I was just thinking that you could very simply turn this into Chicken & Noodles by switching the meat and broth. Any other suggestions on that idea?
Just like my mom makes…except she adds a few whole cloves while cooking the meat, then removes them before adding the egg noodles. I am making some right now. Yum!
Do the noodles have to be from freezer section or can they be dry noodles from a bag? Thanks
Jackie it is to your preference. If you prefer the dried noodles, they will work just as well. Happy Crocking!
Does the meat have to be cooked?
Hi Nichole, thank you for the question. No the meat is not cooked prior to putting in the crock, it will cook in the juices. Happy Crocking!
Omg I also loved my mothers beef and noodles!
She also made the most tender and flavorful braised short ribs and fluffy Bisquick dumplings. But… she never used a crockpot. I am searching for a similar crockpot recipe for braised beef short ribs w/o wine..
Hi ladies…I often make my beef stew or beef stroganoff in my crock pot and to get the juice to thicken nicely and evenly, I shake the beef tips in a ziplock bag with some flour. Shake off the excess and then place in the liquid in the crock pot. Also, Progresso French Onion Soup is a great alternative to the basic beef broth.
How much longer if the meat it frozen?
Marcia you would only need to add about one hour.. Happy Crocking!
How about if I take out the garlic and onion powder because my daughter is 7 yrs old and she doesn’t like a lot of stuff like that especially spices. What do you recommend or suggest?. I still want taste. I still plan to use salt and pepper.
Stephanie you just need to use the spices that your family will use. You can always add a little garlic an onion power to your just before serving??? Hope this helps! Happy Crocking!
Just wondering if anyone has tried this with vegetable broth ?? Would like to use instead of the beef broth . Thanks
Shannon make this recipe your own the vegetable broth will would great too. Enjoy and Happy Crocking!
What if we just use beef broth and more beef broth instead of the water will that make any difference?….
Delicious either way! 🙂
Do you use the regular frozen egg noodle or the quick cooking frozen ones?
I am going to make homemade noodles was wondering how to cook them using a crockpot?
Thanks
Hi Diana, I would follow the recipe exact and put them in during the last 30 minutes, as homemade are always soft, and won’t take long to crock! Happy Crocking and Happy Holidays!
I was wondering if you can double the recipe..I need a serving of at least 8.
Thank you!!
If I cook meat on low for 10 hours, will it be too tender or soggy? Thanks!
Hi Jenn,
Thank you so much for this recipe!! My family loves it!! Question : Do you know a way to make this in an instant pot?
Thanks again so much
Do you add the egg noodles frozen or thawed?
